Friday’s After Five – Free Summer Concert Series

In its 29th season, Fridays After Five, presented by Bud Light, continues to be Charlottesville’s favorite live concert series on the Virginia Credit Union stage.  The first concert will kick off at the Sprint Pavilion on the Downtown Mall April 15th, from 5:30pm -8:30pm, and each Friday thereafter ending on September 9th.

Each week volunteers work the concessions on behalf of a variety of local non-profits who share in the proceeds, which raises tens of thousands of dollars to support their work in our community. The spring and summer schedule features local artists of myriad musical styles; there is something for everyone! Unwind Friday evenings at this fabulous and FREE Charlottesville institution.

2016 Autism Society Central Virginia 5K Run/Walk

Held at the Innsbrook Pavilion, this family-friendly race includes entertainment, food, exhibitors, and a Kid’s Fun Zone. The 5K Run/Walk is the Autism Society Central Virginia’s primary source of income, raising nearly $94,000 in May 2015. The funds raised here stay here!

VFW Memorial Day Program – Earlysville

Monday May 30, the Earlysville, Virginia Chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Champ Lawson, Jr. – Douglas Hall Kirby Post 2044, will host a patriotic Memorial Day Program at the Earlysville Post Office at 10:00 a.m.

The Second Wind Band will play patriotic music, the ceremony will begin with the posting of our national colors by Boy Scout Troop 75 followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of the National Anthem by Nicole Eades.

The keynote address will be given by Katy Hood, LTC (Ret.).

Following the keynote address, members of the VFW, the Elks Lodge, the American Legion, and the Albemarle Board of Supervisors will lay wreaths on the Earlysville Veterans Memorial stone.  Nortonsville Church of God Children’s Choir, led by Terry Tomlin, will sing a medley of patriotic songs and will ask the audience to join them in singing God Bless America.  There will then be a Three Gun Volley by an USAR Color Guard.  Boy Scout Troop 75 will retire the colors.  Lastly, the ceremony will be closed by the moving and haunting playing of Dueling Taps.
