Happy wives make for happy marriage.
Happy wives make for happy marriage.

You know the adage: “If mama ain’t happy, then ain’t nobody happy.” Researchers have now shown that the old saying is only half the story: Guys, If you want to stay wed, make sure that “mama” is always happier than you.  When husbands become more satisfied with their lives than their wives, the so called “happiness gap” eventually causes the couple to divorce, says the economists at Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia. After crunching data of thousands of couples in three countries, the researchers determined that the happiness gap grew wider when women did most of the housework. It also expands when the couple come from different social backgrounds or when they drew higher than average salaries. Also, the disgruntled wife is most likely to file for divorce. But the gap closes when wives and husbands come from the same backgrounds or shared the same religion. Surprisingly, the gap narrows if the women are housewives, students or retired.
