Coming Home
Coming Home

On this week’s Sunday Night Football, we got to witness another soldier coming home from Afghanistan to his wife and child.  We’ve seen many of these videos over the years, and they never get old.  Each one brings me to tears of joy!

I’d like to share with you my own personal military homecoming story:

My niece served two tours in Iraq as a member of the Army Reserves, her first in college, and the second shortly after she started her career as a Fairfax County police officer in Northern Virginia.  During the second tour, she was scheduled to come home for two weeks right before the New Year’s holiday.  A number of family members were at my brother’s house on Christmas day that year.  Most of us were sitting in the living room waiting on Christmas dinner when a police cruiser pulled up in front of the house.  We were wondering what the heck was going on, when my niece stepped out of the car in her fatigues.  She was home almost a week early, and just in time to have Christmas dinner with the family!
