City Police want the public’s help following two weekend incidents that involved gunfire. Police got a call around 11 p.m. Friday about shots being fired in the 900 block of Charlton Avenue. At the same time, a 20-year-old man arrived at the UVA Emergency Room with a gunshot wound. The victim drove himself to UVA, and his injuries are described as non-life threatening. There was a separate call at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the 1300-block of West Main Street.
Two male drivers had an argument, and one pursued the other to the 1500-block of Jefferson Park Avenue. The man who did the pursuing is accused of firing a gun, with a bullet striking the side of the second man’s car. Police say the driver who fired the shot had a lighter colored vehicle and sped off in the direction of Emmet Street. Investigators do NOT believe the Friday and Saturday night incidents were related. If you have more information, call the Crime Stoppers at 977-4000.
